• Grey Wolf Inn and Suites:

Gray Wolf Inn & Suites, situated right next to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, is a great choice here in West Yellowstone. This hotel has quite a few perks, including an indoor heated pool and a hot tub to relax in after a day of adventure. All rooms are well-equipped. You will find satellite TV for your entertainment, and they have thought of those little things that make a difference – like a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker right there in your room.

Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone is like a magical world waiting to be explored!

Imagine hot water bubbling up from deep inside the Earth, mixing with loads of limestone around, and creating these fantastic terraces. It’s like nature’s own staircase, inviting you to marvel at its artistic touch.

GOOD TO KNOW:  When that hot water meets the surface, it brings along some carbon dioxide, and that’s the secret sauce for making something cool called calcium carbonate. This special substance forms the stunning travertine formations – think of them as Mother Nature’s unique sculptures, shaped over time.

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: Make sure not to miss Minerva Terrace, named after a Roman goddess. This place flaunts stunning white and gold colors, showcasing a mix of minerals. Also, make sure to visit Canary Spring, which adds a burst of vibrant orange and yellow tones, turning the landscape into a masterpiece.

What’s neat is that these terraces are like living art; they’re always changing. The heat, water, and the ground keep things in constant motion.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a jaw-dropping masterpiece tucked away in Yellowstone National Park.

Picture this: a massive canyon, about 20 miles long, showing off colors like red, yellow, and ochre. Now, the star of the show is the Lower Falls, a waterfall that’s 308 feet high.

The waterfall starts its journey as the Yellowstone River takes a wild ride through the canyon, creating this awesome cascade that echoes off the cliffs.

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: For the perfect snapshot, head over to Artist Point on the south rim – it’s like the VIP spot for soaking in the breathtaking view of the canyon and the mighty Lower Falls.

After a day of exploring Yellowstone’s wonders, head back to the friendly town of West Yellowstone for a chill night.

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: West Yellowstone is a cool little town. My recommendation is to dive into what the town has to offer. Wander around downtown – it’s got cool restaurants serving up local grub and shops where you can grab souvenirs or outdoor gear.

Today, you will embark on a picturesque journey from Yellowstone to Grand Teton National Park!

The drive spans approximately 60 miles, leading you through the scenic John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway, a tribute to the park’s preservation efforts and the philanthropist’s contributions.

There are several stunning stops along the way that can’t be missed:

Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton National Park is like a picture-perfect painting. The Snake River winds its way in front of the Grand Teton mountains, and the reflection of Mount Moran in the water is stunning.

This spot is not just beautiful; it’s also a home for animals like bald eagles, moose, and grizzly bears.

Many photographers love coming here, especially during sunrise and sunset when the colors in the sky make everything look magical.

Oxbow Bend is a special place where nature’s beauty and wildlife come together, inviting everyone to take a moment, enjoy the view, and marvel at the wonders of Grand Teton National Park.

At Jackson Lake Dam, you’re in for a treat! This spot isn’t just a dam; it’s like a front-row seat for a Tetons show.

You can take in the breathtaking view and maybe even catch a glimpse of wildlife around the area. So, if you’re up for a picture-perfect scene and some Teton magic, Jackson Lake Dam is the place to be!

The Grand Teton Mountain Range / 4 Days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton 

Step into the incredible Cathedral Group Turnout where the Teton mountains take center stage in a breathtaking natural spectacle.

Picture this: you’re at this turnout, and suddenly, the Grand Teton, Middle Teton, and South Teton unfold before your eyes, creating a mountain trio that’s pure magic.

It’s not just a view; it’s a symphony of peaks, with Mount Owen and Teewinot playing their supporting roles, making the whole scene a mountain lover’s dream.

Jenny Lake Drive and Overlook are some of my favorite drives and spots in Grand Teton National Park.

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: My recommendation is to park in the parking lot by Jenny Lake and then, walk to the shore of Jenny Lake. That way, you will get an unobstructed view of the mountain range.

From the overlook, soak in the breathtaking views of the Teton Range, featuring iconic peaks like Grand Teton, Mount Owen, and Teewinot Mountain.

As you stand on the overlook, take in the serene beauty of Jenny Lake below, surrounded by lush forests. Cascade Canyon adds a touch of wild beauty to the mix.

Begin your Grand Teton exploration with a hike to the stunning Taggart and Bradley Lakes, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.

• Roundtrip Distance: 6 miles
• Trail Location: Taggart Lake Trailhead
• Time: 4 hours
• Difficulty: Moderate

Embark on the Taggart Lake and Bradley Lake Loop Trail adventure, kicking off at the Taggart Lake Trailhead, just 2.3 miles north of the Moose Entrance Station.

• From the trailhead, follow Beaver Creek Trail for about 0.1 miles, heading north. After crossing the footbridge over Taggart Creek, you’ll find yourself on Taggart Lake Trail, offering stunning views along Taggart Creek.
• At 1.1 miles, reach the Bradley Lake Trail Junction. Take a right onto Bradley Lake Trail and hike approximately 1 mile toward Bradley Lake. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Cathedral Group during the final ascent, a perfect photo op.
• Bradley Lake, around 225 acres, awaits with paths to its shores for wading and swimming. Take a break, refuel, and soak in the incredible views before heading back on Bradley Lake Trail.
• Continue south for about 1.5 miles, catching views of Taggart Lake below. The trail then runs along Taggart Lake, providing more photo opportunities.
• At 3.6 miles, cross a footbridge over an inlet, transitioning to Beaver Creek Trail. Marvel at sweeping views over meadows and Jackson Hole for approximately 1.6 miles until you return to the Taggart Lake Trailhead, completing a memorable hike.

Taggart Lake in Grand Teton / 4 Days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton 

After a day of exploration, settle in for a cozy overnight stay in Jackson. This vibrant town offers a range of accommodations, from charming inns to modern hotels.

My recommendation is to enjoy the evening in this lively town, exploring local dining options or taking a stroll through its charming streets.

Following are some of my favorite places to stay in Jackson:

• Bentwood Inn

Bentwood Inn is located 14 miles from Jackson Hole Airport and Grand Teton National Park is 23 miles away.

Bentwood Inn is a beautiful hotel built from 200-year-old logs!

GOOD TO KNOW: The rooms are all decorated in individual Western themes with antique-style furnishings. Each room has a fireplace, flat-screen TVs, upscale linens, and down comforters. Some rooms have bay windows, whirlpool tubs, and balconies.

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: Don’t miss the 5 pm happy hour with complimentary wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres served in the main room. It is a nice touch after a day of exploring. Hands down, you will enjoy staying at this hotel!

Brentwood Inn in Jackson / 4 Days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton

• Fireside Resort 

Fireside Resort is located no more than a 5-minute drive from Teton Village.

The cabins, embrace a ‘tiny house’ concept. They offer a cozy alternative to hotels! All provide pet-friendly amenities (if you are traveling with a pet, this option is perfect).

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: You will enjoy the convenience of a shorter route to the park without going through Jackson, making this retreat an ideal location!

Fireside Resort in Jackson / 4 Days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton

• Hotel Jackson

Hotel Jackson is a classy hotel with spacious beautifully decorated rooms that reflect the Jackson Wyoming style.

There are so many perfect touches about this place like the chilled Aqua Panna in a glass bottle, accompanied by ice. The in-room espresso machine that adds a touch of indulgence. The luxurious bedding and lighting fixture that can be set to a soothing dim.

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: Make sure not to miss the on-site Lebanese restaurant Figs. It is a culinary adventure that is nothing short of extraordinary.

But, what I appreciate the most is the customer service. It is top-notch! You will not go wrong with staying at Hotel Jackson.

• Wyoming Inn of Jackson Hole

Wyoming Inn of Jackson Hole is a beautiful hotel, clean, with friendly staff. My room was spacious, with a large TV, a glass shower, and a nice and comfy king bed.

The spa has a nice large tub, which is much needed after a long day hiking in the mountains. The fitness center is small, but it has a Peloton treadmill, which is great! Again, you will enjoy staying at this hotel.

Wake up early for a front-row seat to the magical sunrise at Mormon Row Historic District.

As the sun peeks over the mountains, it paints the Teton Range in hues of pink and orange, while the iconic Moulton Barns stand silhouetted against the breathtaking backdrop.

The vast fields come to life, and the whole scene becomes a photographer’s dream!

Schwabacher Landing is one of my favorite spots in Grand Teton National Park. So, of all the spots in the park, do not miss Schwabacher Landing. Here, you will see a picture-perfect reflection of the Tetons in the still waters of the Snake River.

As you meander along the riverbank, keep an eye out for wildlife; moose, beavers, and elk often make appearances, adding a touch of wilderness to this scenic spot.

INTREPID’S PRO TIP: Now, do not miss the turn to Schwabacher Landing! It is easy to just drive by it. So slow down and be on the lookout for the sign.

If you are following my directions and doing the loop counterclockwise, then the sign will be on your left, right after Glacier View Turnout.
